Presentation of the art festival project
The Positano art Festival is a project put forward by the A.A.S.T. (Tourist Bureau), which originated the idea, and the Municipality of Positano, in collaboration with the Salerno Province Industrialists' Federation, C.C.I.A.A. Salerno and the Comunità Montana Penisola Amalfitana (association of local municipalities), in the context of the program of special events to encourage tourism, both Italian and foreign, in Campania for the 2007 "What's on in ...Campania".
This is the fruit of both public and private concern to improve the image and identity of Positano and the Campania region, in Italy and abroad, by means of innovative and diversified cultural events covering a wide range of the needs and interests of this country and beyond.
This translates into a program of events from April to October involving a multiplicity of activities, conveying the many ways in which the life of a population is expressed.
Here, then, we have an explosion of art from all around Positano in its varied forms and expressions dance, music, sport art exhibitions but also traditional events, food, crafts and an assortment of social and cultural elements characteristic of the area.
This is a not-to-be-missed opportunity for visiting experts, collectors, fans or even just the curious who want to immerse themselves in the unique atmosphere of an area of unchanging fascination
A place where peace reigns supreme over the fishermen's dawn, giving way at sunset to the fashionable world. An island offering reflections which stay in the memory, a land of sunshine and great contrasts the essence of Mediterranean culture.
Streets, back lanes and beaches will all draw you into a dimension out of this world, visual, tactile, acoustic and olfactory.

1st event:
Fashion Show
Positano Beach, 7 April
A preview of summer ready-to-wear fashions, introducing the new collections. Fabulous materials, creativity and skill will hold you gaze, to the accompaniment of various styles of music in a truly magical place.
2nd event:
Street Food
Municipality of Positano, from 2 to 4 May
Flavour trails, on the beach and through the alleyways of Positano, for the purpose of sampling traditional wine and food from Campania, and setting alongside these other strongly typical traditions from Italy and abroad, especially Africa, Asia and Latin America. Sipping local wines and liqueurs in company. And again, round tables on the subject, a feast of international street performers and break-dancing stars, theatre and street music. All this integrated with an offering from the visual arts...portrait painters, mural artists and landscapers will give free reign to their creativity.
3rd event:
Concert of Mediterranean Music
Positano Beach, from 4 to 9 June
The delightful setting of the Bay of Positano will be the backdrop to a series of concerts of Mediterranean music: The stage gives an opportunity to research in depth the influences and concealed echoes that make up the mix of sounds of the Mediterranean culture. But also a stimulus to an exchange of cultures, roots and origins, sharing a common identity and reinterpreting the same notes with different sensibilities.
4th event:
Canoe Race
Positano Beach, 6 and 7 July
The first canoe competition for amateurs. Enrolment open to all, with no age limit. Children and adults together to learn and promote teamwork and respect for nature, but above all...a change to get fit by playing!
5th event:
The "Leonide Massine" Prize for the Art of Dance
Positano Beach, 1 September
A prestigious international event, now in its 36th edition, dedicated entirely to dancing. The greatest artists from all over the world have won this prize, but the event does not intended to lose sight of emerging young talents, bringing them to the attention of the public and the most renowned critics. Prizes for Merit (for young artistes), for Talent (for mature and famous artistes), Prizes for Recognition (for the very young) and Special Medals. An annual appointment eagerly awaited world-wide.
6th event:
Fashion Shows
Positano Beach, 28 and 29 September
Two evening dedicated entirely to fashion, with organized parades of clothing by the famous local fashion houses and internationally famous designers.
7th event:
"The Mark of the Body"
Municipality of Positano, from 6 to 18 October
An exhibition of contemporary art by artists working in the Salerno and Campania area. Subject: figure painting, understood as the study of the body and its relation to life, in twentieth-century Italian painting. The eye is invited to a dialogue with cultural and social realities and remote from our experiences. Visits to art galleries and guided tours among the charming alleyways of Positano are also planned.
