Ferrara
The Ferrara Buskers Festival is the biggest non-competitive parade in the world of the so-called buskers, or rather, street musicians and artist who perform before visitors in exchange for an offer in the "cappello" or hat.It is the biggest buskers festival which growing up with time has come to the point of proposing in recent years thousands of free live performances. If in the last edition, the groups were to perform one after the other we would have needed 115 days of uninterrupted spectacle. The result is fantastic ! Especially if we consider that the festival lasts only one week, precisely the week ending up with the last Sunday of August.
Ferrara is transformed into a music town. It opens up to the world and becomes one world in one city centre, enriched by thousands of cultures. From the Castle to the Cathedral under the medieval vaults one can be lost into the appealing African rhythms, the amusing musical gags, the notes of a Celtic harp or the magical atmosphere of Argentine tangos. Each year the organizers dedicate the Festival to a different country. This is to portray a musical and cultural meaning to the festival, through the selection of musicians directly from the streets of their various countries of origin.
